We have been very busy so far this year in 5th Grade Math! We have learned quite a bit, but still have a lot to go!! The kids have been working so hard and I am very proud of them. So far we have learned:
* Arrays
* Place Value
* Rounding
* Adding, Subtracting, and Ordering Decimals
* Multiplying and Dividing Decimals
* Greatest Common Factor and Least Common Multiple
* Adding and Subtracting Fractions
* Adding and Subtracting Mixed Numbers
One of the biggest struggles for students is not knowing their multiplication facts. Please work with your child to ensure that they know their facts. I have listed some websites below that are great practice for multiplication as well as other skills!

HOMEWORK
Math homework is the same each week. I expect students to practice their multiplication facts 15 minutes each night and work on their daily math problems. Daily math is challenging but allows students to learn great problem solving strategies. I don't want students to stress over these problems too much. I ask that they attempt at least 3 of the 5 problems each week, and then we go over them on Friday. The only other homework they may occasionally bring home is something they didn't finish in class. If they do bring something like that home, it will be a brief assignment.
